A medical report showed that 20% of adolescents in Malaysia go through periods of depression. A key indicator of depression is a drastic change in the person’s eating and and sleeping patterns. Other vital observable indicators of depression are marked changes in mood and behaviour – ranging from sadness, uncontrollable crying, withdrawal, and sudden disinterest in activities previously enjoyed, to feelings of hopelessness and suicidal thoughts. Can you share the stories you have heard about people suffering from depression? What do you think causes depression? What are the ways to overcome it?

greetings. i think depression is cause by the unstable emotion of adolescents and student's life today is rather hectic. he is burdened with heavy curriculum, homeworks, tuition classes, parental pressures and besides to cope with peer. on my suggestion, ways to overcome it is to reciting Al-Quran for the muslims. Shocked Very Happy

there are many causes of depression. when we're depressed, all the things that we did may feel hopeless and we’re exhausted all the time

there are many ways that causes depression.as a teen, i know that teens usually depressed about academic performance in school.me,myself face the same problem.i always have the fear of not getting good grade in exams and usually i cry to just let it all go.here, in boarding school, i'm not only depressed about academic performance but also time management, how to cope with this environment. since this is the first time i'm in boarding school.usually,i just cry to let myself burst everything out at once.but i hope i can overcome this problem,soon.... Crying or Very sad

to me depression is something that cause by the stressful enviroment that we are living in and it cannot heal with medication (unless you take drugs?) or even science cannot help it but it can overome by doing something that calm your own mind

for me,depression may be described as feeling sad, blue, unhappy, miserable, or down in the dumps. Most of us feel this way at one time or another for short periods.True clinical depression is a mood disorder in which feelings of sadness, loss, anger, or frustration interfere with everyday life for weeks or longer.Besides,i also think that we should find the way to overcome it.Very Happy

well, im no psychologist. but i think depression happens because the person who suffers from it just simply thinks too much. or maybe not being able to handle stress. ways to overcome it ? take a deep breath, pray a lot, and perhaps go for counselling ? Smile

well.. i've friend who was under depressions.
usually she would overcome it with tell me her problems
or cried at me or watch the beautiful night scenery..

-pray

i agree!! when we felt depressed, it will influenced our daily activities and studies, especially for students that living in a boarding school like seseri .

i think the causes of depression are loneliness, lack of social support, recently stressful life experiences, family history of depression, financial strain, early childhood trauma or abuse, alcohol or drug abuse, unemployment or underemployment and health problems or chronic pain

i agreed with nurul fazira... most of people in Malaysia when they have any problem they will take a very short way to solve they problem.. today we always hear many people kill themself because depression. on my suggestion, ways to overcome it is by share with friend about the problem. then if when you share with your friend still not work you may see a counselor.

my own way to overcome depression is by talking to my mom and my friend.i'll call them everyday even i need to spent rm15 everyweek for it.but that the way to make me feel better Very Happy Smile

for me, to overcome the depression is make healthy lifestyle changes. Lifestyle changes are not always easy to make, but they can have a big impact on depression. Lifestyle changes that can be very effective include getting regular exercise and sleep, eating healthfully to naturally boost mood and practicing relaxation techniques
